OUR GOAL AT MODERN MUSIC STUDIO IS TO INSPIRE
CREATIVITY AND INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY
A FEW THINGS WE LEARNED TO BE TRUE…
most people love and respect
the power of music
A lot of people play a musical instrument
or wish that they had learned to play one
Countless studies show that no other activity
stimulates more areas of the brain
The modern world has permanently changed our established notions
of a beneficial learning atmosphere. Instant technology and
hands-on specialized instruction are the most exciting ways to
share knowledge. Specifically within the musical arts, the
traditional methods of teaching music aren’t producing long-term
musicians like they used to. Modern Music Studio strives to
incorporate modern technologies and experience based learning in
regularly evolving ways. We’re going to get our students inspired
and well beyond the point of self-sufficient musician.
WE WANT TO HELP OUR STUDENTS BECOME
INSPIRED, CONFIDENT AND CREATIVELY ENERGIZED.
THOUGHTS FROM THE FOUNDER
JEREMY SPILLEN
Personally, my first degree is in Liberal Arts and Human Sciences with
a minor in Creative Writing. I’m really looking forward to my
second degree and am debating between taking classes in
music performance, music education, and sound engineering.
If I hadn’t gotten the GM job at Virginia Tech’s music store Rocket Music,
and also the Entertainment Director of the biggest area venue…well,
I would have moved on like everyone else. But my dreams were coming true
and I was still just 40 minutes from my hometown, best friend and my mother.
My father and my mother’s father were both very accomplished musicians.
So aside from an insane self-motivating work ethic I might have inherited
a little genetic predisposition. I have personally taken more than
13 years of 1-on-1 music instruction, alongside of numerous college music classes.
Richard Jesse, Greg Albert, Damon Wood, and Cyrus Pace were the teachers
who made lasting impressions upon my creative output.
I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years now and still absolutely love what I do.
After a lifetime of studying music this is how I wish it had been presented to me.
Maximize the Fun … and SECRETLY learn a lot.
